Our kombucha tea for vegans

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Left Field Kombucha vegan?

Yes — all our kombuchas are 100% vegan and gluten-free. No animals were harmed in the making (and no gluten was either). We only use tea, water, Fairtrade sugar, and a plant-based fermentation culture. No honey, no dairy, no hidden additives.

Not all kombucha brands can say the same. Some use honey for fermentation or add flavourings with animal-based ingredients. We keep it simple — and simply better.

Our customers notice the difference. As Fern R. shared in her review:

“This is the only brand of kombucha I drink & it’s by far the best! Everything else I’ve tried has a taste of vinegar and I’ve tried a few! Well done for getting it so right!”

That’s the kind of kombucha you deserve — vegan, clean, and delicious.

What makes Left Field’s vegan kombucha different?

We don’t mask our brews with juices or artificial flavours. Each bottle is fermented from real loose leaf tea, creating deep, natural flavour. Customers often tell us, “You can taste the tea, not just the fizz.” That’s the difference when you let the leaves speak for themselves.

Are the cultures used in vegan kombucha really vegan?

Yes — our SCOBYs (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) are grown in completely plant-based environments. We never use dairy or animal derivatives at any stage. In fact, many kombucha drinkers with strict vegan diets choose Left Field because of our clean, honest fermentation process.

Does vegan kombucha contain probiotics?

Yes. Because our kombucha is raw and unpasteurised, it retains naturally occurring probiotics and organic acids. These support gut health and digestion — without the need for additives or supplements. Customers frequently mention feeling “lighter” or “more balanced” after drinking it regularly.

Is your vegan kombucha sweet?

Not in the sugary sense. Our brews are fermented until much of the sugar is converted into organic acids, leaving a dry, clean finish. It’s one reason people switch from fruit-based kombuchas to ours — “less sugar, more depth”, as one customer put it.

Can I drink vegan kombucha instead of alcohol?

Absolutely. Many of our fans use Left Field as a non-alcoholic alternative at dinner or social gatherings. With its layered flavour and gentle fizz, it feels like a grown-up drink without the consequences. Darjeeling with cheese, Yunnan with curry — it’s kombucha that belongs at the table.

Is your kombucha gluten-free and suitable for special diets?

Yes. Our entire kombucha range is not only vegan but also gluten-free, low in calories, and free from preservatives or additives. Whether you're plant-based, coeliac, or just health-conscious, you’ll find something in our range that fits your lifestyle.

Why isn’t your kombucha organic?

We’ve trialled many organic teas, but none delivered the flavour we believe kombucha deserves. Rather than compromise on taste, we prioritise ethical sourcing and quality — using premium teas from members of the Ethical Tea Partnership. It's a balance of sustainability and exceptional flavour.
