Oolong: The Floral One

Made from full inch long, first flush, loose leaf tea leaves from the hills of Taiwan, Oolong tea is a unique and versatile tea celebrated for its complex flavours, which fall between the freshness of green tea and the richness of black tea. Known for its smooth texture and aromatic qualities, oolong tea is also packed with antioxidants and has been associated with potential health benefits, including improved digestion, enhanced mental alertness, and metabolism support.

Tasting Notes

Delicate and floral, our Oolong kombucha is incredibly refreshing. A good and subtle replacement to champagne. Thanks to our house culture, Left Field Kombucha naturally contains a host of healthy organic acids, and gut-healthy bacteria which contribute to good gut health, promoting a balanced digestive system

Our products prioritise high-quality, craft-brewed, ethically sourced tea, allowing the natural flavours to shine through. When brewing kombucha, we only add three things (tea leaves, sugar, and water) to our natural fermentation culture which imparts lots of gut-healthy acids and bacteria. Our award-winning handcrafted drinks are naturally low in calories, and a grown-up alternative to sugary soft drinks.

Awarded Gold at the 2022 Great Taste Awards.

SERVING & STORING

Best served chilled as it comes. Try with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of mint. Our Oolong kombucha is the perfect accompaniment to light dishes such as salads.

You can drink our kombucha straight from the bottle, or pour it into a glass. You may find a little sediment in the bottle, which is made up of harmless yeast and bacteria cells, and is completely normal.

Left Field Kombucha is a living, unpasteurised drink. To retain its goodness, store in a cool, dark environment until you're ready to drink it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is oolong kombucha, and how is it different from other kombuchas?

Oolong kombucha is a fermented drink made with oolong tea, a semi-oxidized tea that sits between green and black teas in both flavor and processing. This gives it a smoother, more floral taste with subtle complexity. Compared to black tea kombucha, oolong tea kombucha is lighter and less tannic, while offering more depth than green tea versions.

Where does the tea come from for your oolong kombucha?

We use first flush, loose leaf Tung Ting Oolong tea from the hills of Taiwan. This high-quality tea is known for its rich floral aroma and smooth, layered profile. Our brewing process preserves the natural elegance of this tea, making it the perfect foundation for our kombucha oolong tea.

What does oolong kombucha taste like?

Delicate and floral, with a naturally light effervescence. It’s not sweet or fruity—just a grown-up, sophisticated drink. Customers say:

“Light and refreshing… has enough flavour to enjoy with a meal.”
“Better than a beer.”
“Delicate musty flavour—very refreshing.”
“I think Oolong is my favourite… depth and structure to the taste.”

Is your oolong tea kombucha good for digestion or health?

Yes. It contains live cultures, organic acids, and antioxidants—naturally supporting gut health and overall well-being. Oolong tea itself is also associated with metabolism support and improved focus.

“Great for your gut to boot.”
“I love the light flavour and low sugar of this kombucha.”

Does kombucha oolong tea contain caffeine?

Yes, but it’s moderate. Oolong tea has more caffeine than green tea but less than black. Our oolong kombucha gives you a smooth energy lift—great for afternoons or social moments without alcohol.

Is this a good alcohol alternative?

Definitely. This is one of our most popular “grown-up” options for people cutting back on alcohol:

“Better taste than champagne, wine, whiskey…”

“I stopped drinking alcohol—this is my new perfect evening tipple.”

“Very refreshing, not too sweet—perfect with food.”

What are the ingredients in your oolong kombucha?

Just four: water, sugar, premium Taiwanese oolong tea, and our natural kombucha culture (SCOBY). No additives, no artificial flavors, and no pasteurization.

Is your oolong kombucha vegan and gluten free?

Yes. All our drinks are vegan and certified gluten free. We never use barley malt, animal-based fining agents, or dairy cultures. Just clean fermentation and ethically sourced tea.

How should I store and serve oolong kombucha?

Keep your bottles in a cool, dark place. Once opened, store in the fridge and enjoy within 3–5 days.
Try it:

  • Chilled, straight from the bottle
  • Poured into a wine glass as an elegant non-alcoholic drink
  • Garnished with grapefruit or mint for a citrusy twist

What is the sediment at the bottom of the bottle?

The cloudy bits or strands are totally natural—yeast and bacteria left from fermentation. They’re harmless and a sign that your kombucha is alive and full of beneficial cultures.

Can I drink oolong kombucha every day?

Yes! Many of our customers make it a daily ritual. It’s low in sugar (just 3.2 g per 100 ml), refreshing, and supports digestion.

“I drink it instead of alcohol and look forward to it every evening.”

Has your oolong kombucha won any awards?

Yes! It won Gold at the 2022 Great Taste Awards, praised for its clean balance and elegant profile. It’s a kombucha that impresses both tea lovers and newcomers alike.
