This fantastic green tea is made of both the stems and the leaves of the tea plant. Harvested in the coastal region of Shizuoka, Japan, this 'twig tea' has a flavour that is unique even among other green teas. Low in caffeine, and full of that green tea savouriness.

Sencha tea is a popular type of Japanese green tea known for its refreshing taste, vibrant green colour. Made from the sun-grown leaves of the camellia sinensis plant, Sencha offers a bright, slightly grassy flavour with subtle sweet and umami notes. This tea is prized not only for its flavour but also for its high levels of antioxidants, which are known to promote heart health and support metabolism.

This fine premium tea is what makes our No.2 Sencha Green kombucha.

All our teas are the finest, premium teas ethically-sourced.

This product is 50g of Sencha Green loose leaf tea.

Our couriers deliver Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 6.00pm, but during busy times, deliveries may be made outside of these times, and may take longer.

Safe place / delivery instructions

Please ensure there will be someone available to sign for the delivery.

We can deliver to places of work if you request it at the time of order.

If you would like your delivery left in a safe place, please ensure you complete the delivery instructions box at checkout. We know you can't always guarantee you will be at home so this really helps to ensure you don't have to travel to your local (or not so local!) delivery office to collect a case of heavy bottles. Once it leaves the brewery, your order is within the courier system. We can't influence the courier company - you will need to contact them directly to rearrange delivery.

What happens if I miss my delivery?

If nobody is in when the courier attempts to deliver, then a card will be left informing you that an attempted delivery had been made. If you do not contact the courier company within 48 hours, the kombucha may be returned to us. In this situation, we will credit your account, less any delivery charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sencha green tea and how is it different from other green teas?

Sencha is the most popular type of Japanese green tea, made from sun-grown leaves that deliver a bright, grassy flavor with subtle sweetness and umami. Unlike Chinese green teas that are pan-fired, Sencha is steamed, giving it its signature fresh and savoury profile. Our blend includes both leaf and stem—a variation sometimes called “twig tea”—which adds smoothness and lowers bitterness.

Where does your loose leaf Sencha come from?

Our loose leaf Sencha green tea is sourced from the coastal Shizuoka region in Japan, an area renowned for its tea cultivation. It's carefully harvested, processed with traditional Japanese methods, and fully traceable to ethical farms. This is not a generic sencha blend—it's single-origin, high-grade tea.

How do I brew Sencha loose leaf tea for best results?

To get the best flavour from your sencha green tea leaves, use 1 teaspoon per cup. Steep in 70–75°C water (not boiling) for 1–2 minutes. The leaves can be re-steeped up to 2–3 times. You'll notice a delicate, savoury broth-like aroma and a beautiful green colour—especially on the second brew.

Is Sencha tea good for health or digestion?

Yes. Japanese Sencha tea is naturally rich in catechins and antioxidants, which may support heart health, metabolism, and mental clarity. It's also low in caffeine, making it ideal for those looking for a gentle pick-me-up without jitters.

Is this the same Sencha used in your kombucha?

Absolutely. This is the exact same Sencha green tea we use in our No.2 Sencha Green Kombucha—which has earned loyal fans for its clean, light taste. So if you love our kombucha, you’re going to love this tea on its own.

“I recently stopped drinking alcohol and LeftField kombucha is my new perfect evening tipple. Love this one and the Sencha Green Tea one.” – Verified customer review

Is this Sencha tea organic or ethically sourced?

While not certified organic, our tea is ethically sourced from trusted Japanese farms that follow traditional, low-intervention cultivation. We avoid synthetic pesticides and prioritise clean growing conditions, transparency, and sustainability.

Why choose loose leaf Sencha over tea bags?

Loose leaf sencha gives you the full flavour and aroma of the tea. Tea bags often contain lower-grade "dust" or broken leaves that lack complexity. With loose leaf, the whole leaf unfurls as it brews, offering a superior, more nuanced experience.

How long will 50g of Sencha last me?

A 50g pouch yields around 25–30 cups of tea, depending on how strong you like it. Since sencha loose leaf can be steeped multiple times, you'll get even more value from each brew.

Can I order Sencha green tea online in the UK?

Yes, we offer secure checkout and fast UK delivery. Our teas are packaged for freshness and shipped directly from our facility—so you can order Japanese Sencha green tea online with confidence.
